Jessica B. Hill and Rylan Wilkie
The mysterious unnamed Dark Lady in Shakespeare's sonnets has always fascinated me. Emilia Bassano, one of England's first published female poets and first feminists has been touted as the most likely Dark Lady candidate. Reading her poetry has felt a bit like falling down a rabbit hole.
The more I read Emilia Bassano the more I hear her strength and voice in Shakespeare's words.
I love to imagine these two brilliant minds met and influenced each other... and perhaps fell in love in the process.
Join Jessica B. Hill and Rylan Wilkie as they read through Shakespeare and Bassano's recontextualized poems, sonnets and soliloquies to bring you (what could have very well been) their love story.
